Flat-panel monitors are nothing new but with its Designo range ASUS has taken the meaning of flat to new extremes.

With screen sizes of up to 23.6”, the Designo monitors are just 16.5mm thick. However, this ultra-thin profile doesn’t mean there’s been any skimping on features: full high-definition resolution of 1920 x 1080 is on offer, with a response time of just 2ms – just the thing for enjoying Blu-ray movies. As well, every monitor in the range delivers a contrast ratio of 50000:1, not to mention both HDMI and PC inputs.

The space-saving design doesn’t stop at the piano-black glossy bezel, though: the Designo’s ring-shaped stand employs what ASUS calls Ergo-Fit Adjustment technology to enable the screen to be tilted with just one finger – nifty.

As ever with ASUS products, the Designo’s impact on the environment has been carefully considered. Half the hazardous materials have been eliminated from the manufacturing process and, depending on how the monitor is used, power consumption is reduced by up to 40%.

ASUS’ five-mode Splendid Video Intelligence technology coupled with with skin-tone and colour temperature selections ensures a great display no matter what’s shown on the screen.
