Over the past few months there has been plenty of debate as to the merits of all the pads about to be launched into the market. Obviously they’ve all been compared to market leaders, and one another, with varying results.
However, the recent launch of the Eee Pad Transformer has had many sit up and take note. Slashgear have written a very comprehensive and well thought out piece as to their first impressions of the Eee Pad Transformer and it is a piece well worth reading.
Slashgear have taken all the features and tech of the Eee Pad Transformer and looked at them from as many angles as possible. The found the 10.1inch 1280×800 screen, covered with a sheet of toughened Gorilla Glass, to have “incredible viewing angles in all four orientations, and indecently rich colors” and that it was “one of the best tablet displays we’ve seen to date”.
High praise indeed from Slashgear, who are known for their astute reviews. They were equally impressed with the keyboard and dock saying that they keyboard was “an essential part of the value proposition”. The keyboard and dock, as I’ve already mentioned in a previous post, are really well designed and the former offers a row of Android related media and shortcut buttons that integrate neatly with the pad itself.
Another feature noted by Slashgear was the “great Live Wallpaper which displays the Eee Pad’s remaining battery as a water level that gradually sinks down the screen (complete with some floating ice cubes)”. I love that feature, personally, but then I am a complete sucker for anything like that and can spend ages playing around with the water levels.
Slashgear found the performance to be on par and were impressed with the HDMI output. I really do recommend reading through their piece as it is also accompanied by tons of photographs that show you exactly what they’re talking about.
