ASUS is embracing 3D for 2010, but the technology isn’t just reserved for laptop users. NVIDIA 3D Vision can also be found in its new VG236H display, which means that desktop PC users can now immerse themselves in ultra-realistic games and movies.

The ASUS VG236H has a 23” widescreen display with a Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution and picture image clarity, thanks to innovations like Splendid Video Intelligence and Color Shine. ASUS Trace II Free technology also ensures a snappy 2ms response time for smooth-moving on-screen action, too.

3D is where the VG236H really shines and rather than use inferior technology that relies upon an interlaced image viewed with polarising glasses, ASUS has opted for the superior NVIDIA 3D Vision. This rapidly alternates scenes from two slightly different perspectives and, when viewed with active LCD shutter glasses with lenses that blink in synchronisation with the display, creates superlative 3D image.

An added advantage of this technology is that the 3D image is displayed in full resolution. 3D displays that rely upon polarising glasses display two different-perspective images simultaneously using alternating rows of pixels, which means that each image can only use half of the monitor’s resolution.

Since it displays different-perspective images alternately, NVIDIA 3D Vision display full-resolution images with incredible detail and the VG236H’s 120HZ refresh rate results in smooth 60Hz motion.

The ASUS VG236H is mounted on a height-adjustable stand (from 0 to 100mm) with ±150° horizontal rotation and forward/back tilt for the perfect viewing position. 3D mode requires a compatible graphics card and you can see a full list of supported models at the NVIDIA 3D Vision site.
