The new Rampage III Formula motherboard from the Republic of Gamers is the latest performance motherboard entrant, following in the footsteps of fellow muscle boards Rampage III Extreme and Rampage III GENE. As the name implies, the Formula revolves around establishing an equation for better gaming, so it arrives resplendent in a variety of features your average power gamer would appreciate.

Just like the other Rampages, the Rampage III Formula (or just R3F) is an Intel X58 board, which of course makes it a host for powerful CPUs, including the six-core i7-980X, still the king of performance when it comes to mass market processors. As is the case with a few other Republic of Gamers motherboards, the R3F ships with the GameFirst high speed internet multitasker, a bandwidth manager that can cleverly prioritise jobs to ensure online gaming remains smooth even if downloading occurs in the background. For first person shooter and real time strategy gamers, this means lower lag and latency, which is a great aid.

On the same front, the R3F also has hardware Intel Ethernet acceleration, which means custom handling of the processing involved in maintaining a broadband connection, relieving the CPU of that workload. The end result is a faster connection and more room for multi-thread functionality.

There’s also SupremeFX X-Fi 2 high definition surround audio — producing a lot more impactful and resonating sound than the typical bolted-on chip, so gamers have something to look forward to here.

And don’t forget the customary Republic of Gamers thermal design, revolving around a digital voltage regulation module architecture and heavy duty solid state capacitors and MOSFETs. These are ideal for overclockers, with their ability to withstand heat and intense power demands.

Expect to witness more of the capabilities of the Rampage III Formula over the course of the summer, as the Republic of Gamers plans to debut it in some of the biggest gaming events of the season.

Well, this seems like an interesting board. But hey, I have an Asus G50VT and it suits me very well with all the games I want, and with the scientific CUDA software I run on it.
