ASUS’ sprightly and spirited Sam Xi Min shares how working for ASUS has changed her professional and personal lives.

Sam Xi MinQ. What’s your name and job title?
Sam Xi Min, Senior Marketing Specialist. Colleagues call me Sam or Sammo!

Q. How long have you worked at ASUS?
I’ve just completed two years, and am embarking on my third year now.

Q. You’ve just completed a move from the Singapore branch to the US office. How did that come about?
I felt that my career was in need of a change, and was delighted to discover that ASUS was totally open to the idea! I really appreciated the fact that the company valued my talent and ability enough to grant me the fantastic opportunity to experience work in an entirely different environment and culture.

Q. How has the move benefited you?
It has expanded my horizons and enabled me to challenge myself professionally. At a personal level, I love travelling and discovering new cultures, so this has been one big, exhilarating adventure. I never imagined that I would be given a chance to take on a new role in a new country that’s halfway across the globe!

Q. What part of your job do you find the most satisfying?
Seeing all of my proposed marketing campaigns come to life!

Q. What part of your job do you find the most challenging?
Having to take into consideration all the cultural issues from other regions when planning a global marketing campaign. Sometimes this entails having to come up with more than one plan to accommodate different regions!

Q. What accomplishment are you most proud of in your time at ASUS?
My pick would be the global launch of the Eee PC S101, which saw more than 300 reporters across the world turning up for the press conference. It was a hectic month planning for the event, but it was all worth it when we received widespread acclaim from the worldwide press.

Q. What changes have you seen in your time at ASUS?
We’re now coming up with more creative marketing campaigns and innovative products. We’ve also started collaborating with top designers, a move which has resulted in recent products such as the NX90 notebook and Eee PC Seashell Karim Rashid Collection. ASUS is constantly moving forward.

Q. What inspires you?
A good challenge. I am always thinking about how to make something good even better. But my greatest inspiration has to be my dad. I admire his perseverance, how humble he is towards his employees, and how he manages to tackle every problem with a great deal of patience.

Q. If you could invent a product and have it made by ASUS, what would it be, and why?
A cloning machine! I’d like to have a few of me around so that I can do more at the same time. It’ll be great to have my doppelgangers traveling, studying and working while I skive!
