Depending on how seriously you take your games, you may or may not be aware that this week has seen Los Angeles host the annual E3 games fair. It’s a massive event, where publishers show off scenes from upcoming releases and attempt to outdo one another in the over the top publicity stakes.
This year there’s been a lot of good looking games for both the consoles and the PC revealed. My personal favourite was Warhammer 40,000: Dark Millennium Online. I haven’t played the tabletop game for many years, but the idea of taking part in a pitched battle between Space Marines and Chaos is something that only a fan of Games Workshop titles will understand. It’s a bit like Trekkies getting the chance to play Star Trek.
Among the big headline games like Crysis 2, Fable III and Mario vs Donkey Kong: Mini Land Mayhem, there’s a lesser known gem on the show floor. YooStar2 is a karaoke movie game for Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3, which allows you to load up a clip of your favourite film and superimpose yourself over the star.
But which movie star and what film would YooStar2 use to promote itself at E3. Step forward Leonard Nimoy, Star Trek’s Mr Spock, who took on the role of the Terminator for the crowds.
Improbable, but true. He’ll be back next year. Maybe.
