Up on the 13th floor of ASUS’ Taiwan HQ, sits one of several of its Design Centers. We’ve already seen what the Singapore one can do too. This floor is dramatically different than others, as those that inhabit it are given a bit more freedom with their space to be creative. Instead of the blue office cubes, it’s an open working space, chalk-board walls and lots of rooms storing all sorts of things you wouldn’t ever think to find in a tech company.
Walk through the door and you’re instantly greeted with imposing imagery and some inspiring words.
This continues throughout the hallways where no two facing walls are the same, or even remain static. I added our own stamp to mark the occasion! *Ahem*
Outside of the office space is a ‘lab’ area, if you can call it that. It’s full of nooks and crannies packing all sorts of stuff my inner-child just wanted to play with. These everyday things are generally separated by their textures, colour or simply what they represent, rather than what they are.
Here we can see fabrics hanging up, and in another room there was just colours surrounding a table with a range of slightly different laptop lids for upcoming 2011 products. It’ll be interesting to see what makes the cut this coming year.
Up here on 13th floor they also have one of the best views in the building too. Not bad for a winters day!
