In the early 90s (yes, I’m that old), Lamborghini Countach posters adorned the walls of schoolboys everywhere, way before its wedge-shaped silhouette was replaced or in some cases, accompanied, by curves of the female form.
But even then, the raging bull from Italy will always be remembered as the very first thing that got little boys’ pulses racing. It’s a sentiment that hasn’t been lost in the decades that followed, and the same bold lines continue to inspire.
Hot on the heels of the ASUS-Automobili Lamborghini VX7 laptop comes the ASUS WX-Lamborghini wireless laser mouse. The chiseled creases, the sharp angles – the lines are unmistakably Lamborghini.
Conceived from the Lamborghini Concept S, ASUS has managed to deliver the Italian bull’s fine balance of power and control into the everyday computing experience.
Much like the confines of its four-wheeled brethren’s cockpit where everything is within the driver’s reach, the WX-Lamborghini wireless mouse offers the same level of control as its namesake – putting everything in the user’s palm.
Precision laser technology and customizable input speeds of 800 to 2500dpi enable the user to find the right resolution for every surface and application out there. The Nano Dongle frees it from wires by giving it a range of up to 10 metres, and since it operates at 2.4Ghz, there is little or no possibility of interference from other devices.
While its primary styling cues are taken straight from the Concept S, sharp-eyed gear heads will notice hints of the aggressive intakes taken straight out of the Reventon, or the scroll wheel design which resembles the rims from the Diablo.
In terms of colours though, ASUS has decided to offer the WX-Lamborghini mouse in black, white, and for the ostentatious – a limited edition yellow. That’ll turn some heads; after all, that’s what Lamborghinis are all about. With that said, I’m pretty sure someone said that the in-your-face lime green hue found on today’s Lamborghini palette would be too much. Well, the line has to be drawn somewhere right?
