The Asus Eee Pad Transformer has been getting some really good reviews the past few days, and so here is a round-up of some of the things that have been said. Why hunt for information when I can just place it delicately in your lap, I ask you?
So, to start with TechRadar have reviewed the Eee Pad Transformer and said that this is one clever device. And it is. The Transformer has more than just a Pad functionality, you can either turn it into a netbook-style device with a keyboard, or you can keep it as is. Very handy indeed.
TechRadar liked this feature, as well as the extra-long battery life (around eight hours) and features such as GPS and Bluetooth.
ITProPortal said that their brief hands-on had them feeling intrigued and that the Eee Pad Transformer was a worthy rival for the leading pads on the market today. The Transformer is light and thin – 680g and 12.9mm – and has 512MB memory that can be upgraded, plus 16GB onboard storage.
It has lots of lovely interfaces such as HDMI, an audio jack, a card reader and, of course, the docking port that, ahem, transforms the pad into something more.
Hexus put the Eee Pad Transformer on their “eye catching” list and raised the same points as TechRadar and ITProPortal did above. The keyboard docking station is proving to be a big hit among the geek set, as well as the excellent blend of HoneyComb and Nvidia’s Tegra 2 hardware.
They even have a video you can gawk at if you’d like to see the Eee Pad Transformer in action before it arrives instore in April.
Actually, April is really close now and I’m getting really excited about the opportunity to play around with one of these devices. The inclusion of the keyboard docking station is a big plus. You will need to pay extra for this option, and for the keyboard itself, but if you are looking for a portable device that does everything you need on the move, then this is a very good bet.
Finally, ThinQ found the Eee Pad Transformer to be “extremely impressive”. Like all the preview reviews, there were some issues highlighted by the reviewers, but all these have been noted by ASUS who’ve assured us all that they are ironed out of the final product.
It’s looking really good for ASUS’s Eee Pad Transformer right now, especially if you are interested in a pad that has the ability to adapt to your requirements – a useful trick if you want to use it both at home and on the move.
