ASUS has always been good at components and the GTX 770 DirectCU II OC is not excluded from those ranks. It is a strong performer with excellent features and some ASUS specific adaptations and elements that make it worthy of a good look if you happen to be in the market for a graphics card.
The one thing that ASUS does supremely well in terms of component design is the coolness. They have clearly spent a fortune on developing methodologies and features that are optimised for keeping those temperatures down. The ASUS DirectCU II cooler keeps the core down to impressively low temps and it manages to do this without being excessively noisy either.
Few things are as annoying as a roaring fan while you are trying to game, or work, on your machine. In addition to this superb heatsink design the GTX 770 hits clock speeds that are impressively high for the range if you overclock the chap cleverly enough. In fact, it has been said to haveachieved levels that take the board up to almost 780 standards of performance. When you consider how costly it is to invest in a decent board, this is a pretty important feature.
The ASUS GTX 770 DirectCU is also priced very well for the market. It competes neatly with other boards in the same price bracket but the fact that it can be so seriously boosted for additional overclocking performance sets it well ahead of its peers.
Here you have a decent card with a strong performance and plenty of tweaking and overclocking options. It’s quiet and affordable and it offers an all-round solution that would do any mid-range rig proud. I would certainly recommend this for anyone who is keen to build a sturdy and robust machine that can take the pressure, without them having to spend a fortune.
