This is quite a name - SDRW-08U5S DVD Burner. It is also quite a product. I am definitely someone who appreciates a bit of colour and sparkle with my technology. I like colour and I like flair. This doesn’t mean, of course, that I would choose form over factor. Indeed not. And this new range of 13mm external DVD burners manage to fit into both boxes quite neatly.
Let’s take a look at the, er, looks…
The SDRW-08U5S-U is 13mm and can be used both horizontally and vertically. You can get it in three different colours – Dusty Rose, Bright Berry and Mellow Metallic – and they are all gorgeous. Although I really do think that the Dusty Rose is seven kinds of awesome.
These DVD burners are ideal for ultrabook owners as they fill a much needed gap in the specs for those devices while also staying in line with keeping things thin, stylish and powerful. These drives have Disc Encryption II technology so your content is kept safe with passwords and data encoding. A nice touch, I think, especially when the mobile market is clearly being targeted with this miniscule size and shape.
