Protecting your PadFone 2

I don’t know about you, but the first thing I do when I get a new smartphone or tablet is to run to the accessories store to pick up a brand new case for them. Now the PadFone 2 isn’t your run-of-the-mill smartphone, especially when you consider its ability to slot into the PadFone 2 Station to become a full-fledged tablet.

Enter the PadFone 2 Flip Cover and the PadFone 2 Station TranSleeve– which coincidentally, comes in metallic black or matte white – the same colors as the PadFone 2. To keep the weight down, the Flip Cover weighs just 38g; while the PadFone 2 Station TranSleeve weighs just 190g. To ensure the smartphone and tablet screens are kept in pristine condition, an inner layer of microfibers help keep them safe from scratches.

The Flip Cover does what it says on the box, flipping down to give you access to the smartphone display, and flips up to form a stylish case to fully protect the phone. The PadFone 2 Station TranSleeve, has a little more up its, erm, sleeve. It folds in two different ways – providing users with a prop-up stand for the PadFone 2 Station in both landscape and portrait modes.  

Both of the Bottom Flip Cover and the TranSleeve have been put through a series of durability tests, and these include paint abrasion and solvency, impact, humidity, and extreme temperature tests. I think that’s more than what the average guy can throw at it.

If I were to nit pick, I’d say it’s a pity that we’d have to remove the smartphone Flip Cover before slotting it into the PadFone 2 Station. But hey, we can’t have everything in life…
