There is something beautiful about the bare bones PC. The fact that you can almost see the components thinking and you can change and adapt anything on a whim. At the recent Computex 2013 ASUS launched a bevy of awesome products onto the tech scene, and one of these beauties was the ASUS Poseidon Formula 1 Gaming PC that drips bare bones cool.

ASUS Computex

What you have in this system is an astonishing piece of kit that boasts the new Maximus VI motherboard, designed for working with the Intel Haswell range of processors, an impressively designed cooling system, and a cage that looks like the roll frame of racing cars and demolition derby’s.

The entire machine feels as if it could hook up to the mind of the gamer and give them exactly what they need before they even know that they need it. The cooling system is all about managing temps with the flow of air, but it can be modded to included water if you want. If you want that extra look or that extra overclocking support.

The Poseidon Formula 1 includes a SupremeFX audio chip with so many features that you probably need a lie-down after reading them. Some of the more important ones include the high quality WIMA and ELNA audio capacitors, the shielding for limiting interference and the 600 ohm headphone amp.

You will also find Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, the ASUS Poseidon graphics card (Isn’t that a strange coincidence?) and other tasty features. It is really a thing of beauty, isn’t it? The colours, the style, the attention to detail – these are part of what make it clear that ASUS really understands what the gamer wants in their machines.

It’s going to be very interesting to see how much the ASUS Poseidon Formula 1 rig will retail for, and when it is planned for release, but until then we can look at the pictures and dream…
