Last week, ASUS held a press conference at IFA 2012 in Berlin to introduce the ASUS Vivo Tab and the ASUS Vivo Tab RT. At the same conference, NVIDIA took us through some of their behind-the-scenes work and gave us a guided tour through the Unreal Engine 3 on the Vivo Tab RT.
What was notable from the start was just how smooth the Unreal Engine 3 was running on the Vivo Tab RT. Powered by a Tegra 3 quadcore processor and a 10.1” Super IPS+ panel with 1366×768 resolution, the ASUS Vivo Tab RT delivered flowing graphics, running at 30 to 40 frames per second.
More importantly, this was the first public showing of an Unreal Engine 3-based application on the Windows RT platform. Pairing the Unreal Engine 3 with Windows 8 and Windows RT is a big move forward, made possible through a joint effort by NVIDIA and Epic Games. This gives game developers around the globe some great encouragement to start work on bringing their best content onto Windows 8 and Windows RT. Let’s all wait and see what awesome games will come out of this union.
