It was another strong showing for ASUS as they took home no less than 10 accolades at the iF Design Awards 2012.
The ASUS UX Series ultrabook, the Eee Pad Transformer TF101, the TUF Series SABERTOOTH P67 motherboard, the ET Series All-in-One PCs, the ROG CG Series desktop, the Eee PC X101 netbook, the G74 gaming notebook, and the P1 portable projector impressed an international panel in their respective categories. Product design aside, the UX Series screensaver won the iF Communication Design Award while the Rampage III Black Edition motherboard took home the iF Packaging Design Award.
Let’s take a closer look:
ASUS UX Series ultrabook
The UX Series features an aluminum monocoque design with concentric rings on its cover. This ultra-slim ultrabook features the Intel Core i5 or i7 processor, delivers outstanding sound, and is capable of a 5-hour standby time.
ASUS Eee Pad Transformer TF101
The Eee Pad Transformer TF101 is a sleek, compact tablet PC that delivers outstanding audio visuals thanks to speakers that have been fully integrated together with the display and metal chassis. The rear panel features a tactile finish that provides a good grip.
The optional dock lets users turn the TF101 into a netbook with a physical keyboard while serving as an external battery pack as well. Simply put, the TF101 is a tablet and netbook rolled into one.
ASUS Eee PC X101
The compact Eee PC X101 features compact design that’s less than 17.6mm thick and weighs less than 920 grams. Despite its minute size, ASUS has managed to squeeze an Intel Atom N435/N455 Processor, a 10.1” LED-backlit WSVGA display, WLAN 802.11n and Bluetooth 3.0 into the X101’s dimensions to make it an extremely capable, low-cost communication tool.
ASUS ROG G74 gaming notebook
The ASUS ROG G74 gaming notebook is a high performance machine that features a Smart Thermal System with two rear vent fans that keep it cool and silent even while under heavy loads. It features an ergonomically-designed backlit angled keyboard with a soft-touch palm rest to ensure a comfortable typing experience. Its black, understated finish not only makes it look the part when it comes to gaming; but is discreet enough to be used for work as well.
ASUS TUF Series SABERTOOTH P67 motherboard
The ASUS TUF Series SABERTOOTH P67 motherboard features military-grade capacitors, chocks and MOSFETs to ensure the ultimate in durability and system stability. A proprietary shunt design called Thermal Armor forces cool air from the CPU and case fans to flow around the motherboard. It also shields most of the motherboard from the heat generated by other components.
ASUS ET Series All-in-One PC
The ASUS ET Series All-in-One PC features a frameless glass touch panel display and a lightweight metallic stand that absorbs vibrations to protect the system. It also features a stainless steel speaker mesh that has been designed to reduce distortion.
ASUS ROG CG Series desktop
The CG Series desktop received quite a reception among world-class PC gaming enthusiasts when it was introduced. The ASUS Design team was given free rein to produce a system that is not far the initial concept.
ASUS P1 Series LED Projector
The ASUS P1 LED portable projector comes with a slim chassis with mesh air vents designed to maximize cooling. It has been designed to make life easier for the user, a flip-out stand and precision lens controls, an intuitive user interface and a control panel designed for quick access to basic functions.
Hector
A former tech journalist with a local daily, Hector is an anomaly in the world of tech writers—he’s a skeptic, preferring to ask “Do we really need another (insert gadget here)?” instead of “I gotta have that new toy.” As a result, he often finds himself owning these gadgets only a year after their release. He wishes things were a whole lot simpler, like they were back in the 60s, even though he wasn’t even born then. Perhaps that explains why he’s dressed like the Fonz. Ayyyy!!
