Milan Design Week starts on the 12th of April 2011 and promises to deliver some extraordinary concepts in design to the world. The media are buzzing with the excitement of it all, and many designs are already being hotly debated.

One such debate is whether or not ASUS plan to showcase a unique and exciting design at Milan Design Week. While we know that ASUS are going to show off some of their more delectable products such as their recent tablets such as the Eee Slate and Eee Pad Transformer, there is a whisper that perhaps they may show off a 3D tablet too?

This debate was sparked a while back when the chairman, Jonney Shih, mentioned an upcoming surprise back in February. Many believed that this surprise would be the release of a 3D tablet running Honeycomb and boasting a quad core processor, and now all eyes are turning to Milan Design Week as the possible time and place for a big reveal.

ASUS have not confirmed such a rumour but it certainly is adding to the excitement around this prestigious event.

The spark that set off this round of debate was a tweet sent out on March 09 by ASUS saying, “Design concept or innovative display? Will you be attending Milan Design Week in April?” and attached to this tweet was the very image you see above.

Most of the media are convinced that this is definitely going to be a time for the 3D tablet from ASUS and I have to admit that I’m starting to feel pretty excited myself. The very idea of a 3D tablet has me bouncing up and down like a little child.

At first I was very sceptical of 3D, now I am slowly becoming a manic convert. Yes, Milan Design Week is definitely starting to become even more exciting than I thought it would be.
