Welcome to the golden age of extra-fast networking! Of course, assuming your infrastructure  is ready for said future. The new ASUS RT-AC66U 2.4GHz/5GHz router offers 802.11ac Wi-Fi, which is the latest standard and much faster than current 802.11n. Times are a movin’.

The total speed is 1.75Gbps across both bands. That’s right – a lot of speed. Great for gaming, streaming, and heavy downloading. Whatever connection you have at home, I really doubt it can top 1.75Gbps total, unless you’re a time traveller. So in other words, the RT-AC66U will allow your networking to fully discover its potential. Inside is the Broadcom 5G chipset, which helps mitigate latency. ASUS also includes AiRadar signal direction and optimisation technology, which supports more devices on the same wireless network minus the messy slowdowns. Setup is the by-now standard ASUSWRT three-step/30-second deal, so even that goes quick.

The triple-antenna RT-AC66U also serves as the de facto launch platform for the new ASUS AiCloud service, which is available as an app for iOS and Android devices.

At any RATE (yet another pun alert), the RT-AC66U represents the future of Wi-Fi, and I’m personally very happy that we are moving forward, because the goal is to have networking that’s so zippy and ubiquitous, you don’t even think of the speed anymore. It’s just fast.

Well, let’s have the video speak for itself, but if you’re a gamer/HD media lover/habitual downloader, there’s you next router bar none.
