Create life’s next attraction

When it comes to designing PCs, everyone and his brother has an opinion.

While the brusque opening line may imply that I’m about to launch into a cynical, blistering tirade about how all of these usually-unsolicited views are worthless, I’m about to do quite the opposite.

You see, as a believer in crowdsourcing, I honestly feel that each and every idea proffered has intrinsic value, regardless of how unfeasible it may seem at that point in time.  After all, wasn’t it Einstein who once said: “If at first, the idea is not absurd, then there is no hope for it”?

One of the many ideas conceived by WePC.com visitors.

My greatest regret is that not more of these opinions are heard. It is therefore with some relief that I stumbled upon WePC.com, a virtual venting zone for anyone who has a passionate view of how computers should look, feel and perform. WePC.com is a breath of fresh air, because no idea – it seems – is too ridiculous. I’ve seen submissions involving laptops with three screens, pen tablets in lieu of keyboards and holographic projections. Save for the odd prank submission glorifying the male genitalia, I genuinely think that all of the ideas are worth looking into.

Some of the submissions are, erm, a little more colourful. But they're interesting all the same.

To quote the legendary physicist once again: “Imagination is everything. It is the preview of life’s coming attractions.”

So go ahead. Create life’s next attraction.
