The first few days of CES have thundered pas, leaving gadget loving geeks gasping a bit in its wake. There has been outcry and drama. There have been comments and there have been announcements galore. ASUS have not sat idle in the blare and the glare in the lights of Vegas and revealed some really lovely pieces of kit.

Let’s start with the smallest. The WL-330NUL Pocket Router is taking ASUS’ title of the world’s smallest Wi-Fi router. It is only a bit bigger than a flash drive and weighs a mere 25g with a USB cable on the one side and an Ethernet port on the other. You can use your device to power the WL-330NUL Pocket Router or you can use a boring old power socket if battery conservation is on your list of priorities. This is perfect for people who live on the road and who don’t have Ethernet ports on their tech – it doubles as a USB Ethernet adaptor too.

Next up we have the PA249Q Pro Art Monitor which is substantially bigger than our world’s smallest router. This 24 inch monitor has an IPS display of 1920×1200 and a 16:10 aspect ratio. Aimed at the segment of the market that needs a professional grade monitor it has been calibrated within an inch (sorry) of its life and has 100% Adobe RGB colour reproduction and customisable colour adjustment options. There are quite a few other extras, like USB 3.0 ports, and is due for release sometime in March 2013.

And, in the monitor category, ASUS also revealed an ultra-fast gaming monitor that takes  another ASUS World First with the 144Hz rapid refresh-rate display with 1ms response time. This is incredibly fast response timing for full HD gaming at high frame rates. The VG248QE has been designed to reduce blur, deliver smooth imagery, and has so many features I’ll need far more space to talk about it. Some of the highlights include the 80,000,000:1 smart contrast ratio and the inclusion of Splendid Video Intelligence Technology.

Those are the three that really caught my attention over the past two days and I’m pretty sure there is plenty more. Stay tuned…
