After a year of impressive innovation that set ASUS into the top 5 tablet manufacturers in the world and gained them global recognition in design and technology, ASUS are about to announce something even more interesting at Mobile World Congress (MWC).

ASUS Mobile World Congress

The ASUS Fonepad has been sneakily leaked into the mainstream press and the idea looks utterly riveting. This gadget is due to be shown off in all it’s techy speccy loveliness at MWC later this year and, interestingly, it looks like it is going to be powered by the Intel Atom Z242 processor as well as boasting Android 4.1.

The specs that have been uncovered – and without a confirmation from ASUS HQ these remain pure speculation – include an IPS touchscreen display with a 1280×800 resolution and 7 inches of screen real eastate. It will have 3G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth as well as GPS and a camera.

What will make this phone so delightful, other than the usual ASUS quirks and extras that have a spark all of their own, is that it is believed that it won’t cost you a fortune either. It comes with enough power to be a strong contender in the Android phone market and it is going to be very interesting to see what else ASUS have up their sleeve for later on this month at Mobile World Congress…
