Whenever you hear the term “audio-visual” what do you think of? I think of bored Sunday afternoons dragged from one gorgeous Bose selling store to another by my enthusiast father and equally fascinated brother.

I have never been a big “sound” person if I am honest. If I can hear it, I’m happy, but I managed to somehow absorb a lot of information as they all chatted about one system or sound issue after another. What I do like is design.

Technology design in particular.

ASUS Designo MX Series

When computers first came out they were, let’s face it, all about functionality. We needed big, solid, sturdy boxes to house huge, chunky components that could barely do what the tiniest chip can do today. Now there are gorgeous pieces of kit popping up everywhere and I have found one I love – the ASUS MX279H and MX239H series.

These two monitors from the same family have 23 inch displays within a frameless design. They are beautiful. Just look at all that real estate! There is a 178 degree wide-view angle with Advanced High Performance IN-Plane Switching (AH-IPS) for super visual clarity.

And guess what, the sound is provided by none other than Bang & Olufsen ICEPower with dual 3W stereo speakers and the ASUS SoundMaster technology to ensure that sound quality is stellar. And this is why the ASUS monitors have cornered the term audio-visual.

Enough of my slobbering over the picture and into the actual specs…

ASUS Designo MXThe ASUS Designo MX Series have teeny tiny thin profiles. They make supermodels look like they have a constant craving for chocolate. The MX239H is a mere 14.5mm at its thinnest. The stand is that lovely ASUS sundial design that I love and the range garnered accolades at the 2012 Good Design Awards.

You also get a 5ms response time for awesomely fluid visuals, an LED-backlit AH-IPS panel, the ASUS Smart Contrast Ratio of 80,000,000:1 and superb brightness.  Dark blacks, bright white shades and vivid colours are all boosted by the powerful built-in technology on the ASUS Designo MX series. In terms of connectivity you have dual HDMI and D-sub input ports and compatibility with a huge range of multimedia from consoles to TVs to PCs.

I want. Gimme.
