ASUS Eee PC 1015PEM: The first ultra portable 10 inch netbook with the dual-core Intel Atom N550.

Today Intel announced the N550 dual-core Atom processor that will deliver faster processing, better graphics displays, and handle 720p video while filing its nails. This 45nm Pineview model runs at 1.5GHz, supports DDR3 memory, has Hyperthreading and support for 2GB RAM, among other things. Perfect for the netbook market and coming at a time when a boost is needed, this N550 processor is an interesting development that has the tech world buzzing.

So who’s going to be first with a netbook that boasts the new dual-core technology? ASUS. Shipping the 1015PM for 349 Euros, ASUS are going to be the first to release the faster dual-core netbook onto the market.

The ASUS Eee PC 1015PEM has all the functionality and style that you’d expect from the company that started the netbook revolution, and, obviously, they’re continuing the trend with this rather brilliant step forward.

This combination of portable and speedy technologies could well take the netbook market right back up into the stratosphere. Now you have light and portable netbook design and technology with almost as much processing power as their bigger cousins, and at a far more attractive price point.

It’s going to be interesting to see how much better the ASUS Eee PC 1015PEM performs against its predecessors, and how much zing the N550 delivers to the table. Fortunately, thanks to ASUS’ rapid delivery of the product to market, we don’t have to wait very long.

The ASUS Eee PC 1015PEM comes in red, black, white and pink.
