What happens next?
Once you have uploaded your video we will email to confirm receipt.
A Techinstyle.tv administrator will review the video and if it is not suitable for any reason we will advise accordingly.
All videos that are entered prior to the commence date will go live from 20 June 2011.
If you enter a video whilst the competition voting period is live we will aim to review and upload your video into the competition space within 48 hours of submission.
How does the competition work?
Between 20 June to 30 August 2011 all approved videos will be featured on techinstyle.tv/visibly-smart
People will be invited to watch, comment and allocate a number of stars to each work (1-5 stars).
Everyone who makes a comment/votes will be entered into a prize draw to win an N-series laptop.
The five videos that receive the most legitimate votes will then be judged by a panel including representatives of ASUS UK, Intel and an independent film blogger.
The five finalists will be asked to attach the Intel moving logo ident to the end of their film.
How does judging work?
The judges will view the five finalists videos and will rate the videos accordingly to how well they have met the brief, originality and how effectively the message has been communicated.
How are winners notified?
The winning video will be notified in writing by 01 September 2011.
Can I Use My Own Music?
All videos that are entered for the competition must adhere to Standard Production Procedures and Rules on the use of copyright material. If you plan to use copyright material then you MUST have the relevant permission, a copy of which must be included with your submitted film.
Can I Film in A Public Place?
If permission is required to film at any locations, permission and location release forms must be arranged and supplied.
Can I Use Third-Party Footage/Photos In My Video?
It’s recommended that you only use original footage that you have shot yourself. Any footage from a stocked collection must be paid for by yourself and must have a commercial usage licence.
Do not copy footage from any other video that you have found from any channel, internet or elsewhere.
Can I Feature My Video Elsewhere?
Yes, you can promote your video in any legitimate environment, as long as you have secured permission as required. Please note, voting on videos for the purposes of this competition is restricted to techinstyle.tv. Any comments, votes or views recorded elsewhere are not eligible for entry, or consideration for this competition.
The Prize
The creator(s) of the winning video will receive:
- An ASUS N-Series laptop (4 units)
- An ASUS goodie bag (including and £100 Amazon voucher) (4 units)
- Tickets to a London premiere for 4 people with overnight accommodation based on 2 sharing a hotel room.
- Commission from ASUS UK to make a promotional/marketing film linked to one of their products in 2011/2012.
First 10 groups who enter and upload an approved video will receive
- An ASUS goodie bag each (up to 4 per group) including a memory stick (2GB) and a £10 Amazon voucher.
Terms and Conditions
By entering into this contest you acknowledge and agree to the following terms and conditions
- The competition is open for entry from 27 May 12:00 GMT until 30 August 2011
- All entries submitted prior to 20 June 2011 will only be published from 20 June 2011 12:00 GMT.
All entries after this period will be uploaded within 48 hours of submission.
- All entries will be reviewed by a Techinstyle.tv administrator and if not suitable for any reason, the entrant will be advised accordingly.
- The Techinstyle.tv administrator’s decision is final and no further correspondence will be entered into.
- By uploading your video you agree to and consent to the terms and conditions of the competition.
- The Visibly Smart Short Film Competition (the “Competition”) is open to residents of the UK aged 18 and over.
- You and your team personally created, wrote and produced your film and you have permission for the use of the image/likeness of any and ALL identifiable persons appearing in your film.
- You must adhere to Standard Production Procedures and Rules on the use of copyright material. If you plan to use copyright material (image/sound and other) you MUST have the relevant permission, a copy of which must be included with your submitted film.
- By submitting an entry the entrant grants ASUSTek (UK) permission to use their entry for present and future publicity purposes in connection with this Competition and in any and all media without additional compensation, notification or permission, unless restricted by law.
- Online entry only, internet access is required to enter.
- Once uploaded the submission will not be returned. ASUS may, in its sole discretion, remove, delete and/or forfeit Submission that it deems to be inappropriate or otherwise non-compliant with the Contest.
- The Competition is not open to employees or agencies of Asustek (UK), their group companies or family members, freelance contributors or anyone else connected to the Competition.
- No purchase necessary
- No responsibility is taken for entries that are lost, delayed, misdirected or incomplete or cannot be delivered or entered for any technical or other reason. Proof of delivery of the entry is not proof of receipt.
- The Competition closes at 23:59 on 31 August 2011. Entries received after that date and time will not be considered.
- All approved submissions will be voted and commented on by the public.
- The five preferred submissions by the public will be selected as the finalists.
- All comments/voting by the public will be checked for any repeated use of IP addresses and any other means sought to unfairly influence the outcome.
- Any submissions that have been ‘unfairly promoted’ by spam techniques or others will not be presented to the judges as a finalist.
- The five finalists will be judged by five judges including a representative of ASUS, a representative of Intel, a film Blogger, an independent film producer and a technology journalist. The judges will review all five finalists and choose the winning video based on judging criteria:
- Originality and Creativity – 40%
- Adherence to Brief – 60%
- The decision of the judges is final.
- No entrant will have the right to challenge the verdict and the judges will not engage in any conversation or explanation regarding their decision.
- The winner will be notified in writing by 07 September 2011 and announced on techinstyle.tv by 14 September 2011.
- The top prize is for the creator (s) of the winning video is:
- An ASUS N 53-Series laptop (up to 4 units)
- An ASUS goodie bag (including and £100 Amazon voucher) (up to 4 units)
- Tickets to a London premiere for 4 people with overnight accommodation based on 2 sharing a hotel room.
- A video commission from ASUS UK to make a promotional/marketing film linked to one of their products in 2011/2012
- Prize is subject to model/unit availability
- The prize is not redeemable for cash
- ASUSTek (UK) accepts no responsibility for any costs associated with the prize and not specifically included in the prize.
- ASUSTek (UK) retain the right to substitute the prize with another prize of similar value in the event the original prize offered is not available due to circumstances beyond its reasonable control.
- Everyone who leaves a comment on one of the videos will be entered into a draw to win an N-53 Series Laptop (subject to terms and conditions (23.4.1-4 above)
- The winner of the comment competition will be chosen from all valid entries received and the winner will be notified in writing by 07 September 2011.
- The winners may be required for promotional activity.
- Nothing in these terms and conditions shall exclude the liability of AsusTeK (UK) for death, personal injury, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation as a result of its negligence.
- AsusTeK (UK) accepts no responsibility for any damage, loss, liabilities, injury or disappointment incurred or suffered by you as a result of entering the Competition or accepting the prize. AsusTeK (UK) further disclaims liability for any injury or damage to your or any other person’s computer relating to or resulting from participation in or downloading any materials in connection with the Competition.
- AsusTeK (UK) reserves the right at any time and from time to time to modify or discontinue, temporarily or permanently, this Competition with or without prior notice due to reasons outside its control (including, without limitation, in the case of anticipated, suspected or actual fraud). The decision of AsusTeK (UK) in all matters under its control is final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into.
- AsusTeK (UK) shall not be liable for any failure to comply with its obligations where the failure is caused by something outside its reasonable control. Such circumstances shall include, but not be limited to, weather conditions, fire, flood, hurricane, strike, industrial dispute, war, hostilities, political unrest, riots, civil commotion, inevitable accidents, supervening legislation or any other circumstances amounting to force majeure.
