I’ve already looked into quite a few of the features built into the ASUS O!Play BDS-700 media player, and the Flickr feature under the Internet tab. Now, however, I’m talking you through one of the other features that is listed under that tab.

On the Home menu scroll across to Internet, use the arrow key to go down, and then use the left and right arrow keys to navigate the options. The first option is Flickr, but we’ve already done that, so the next stop is Internet Radio.

This is another feature I really enjoy. I’m not a fan of navigating the channels but the fact that I can pick and choose from so many different radio stations at any time of the day is a very big tick in my book. To start with, when you select Radio you are taken through to Zee Internet Radio’s home page. There you can locate channels by Top 100, My Favorite, Sort by Genres, Sort by Regions and Search Station.

I ambled through the Top 100 for a while and then went straight to Sort by Genres to find Christmas music. It is that time of the year and all that jazz. The list of genres are not in alphabetical order so New Age is followed by Soul which is followed by Rap and Gospel. So locating Christmas music was a case of having to inch down the list until I found what I wanted.

A simple tap on the genre led me to a really comprehensive list of Christmas stations. You also get a list of options at the bottom of the screen of the BDS-700 so you can add the station to your favourites, remove it from your favourites or go Home. I immediately chose Christmas Fun and favourited it so I wouldn’t have to endure the long search again. When you press the R button to make it a favourite a star will appear next to the station.

That’s it! The range of stations is impressive, navigation is easy, and now I get music to match my mood without any effort at all. This is, for me, one of the best features of the ASUS O!Play BDS-700 media player and it sits so quietly in the corner…
