Buyers on a tight budget usually have to settle for second best (or worse) when it comes to Android tablets, but the new ASUS Transformer Pad 300 bucks that trend by some margin.

On the outside, there’s nothing to suggest that this Android ICS tablet is built to be more affordable. The TF300 is available in three striking colours with the same concentric circle pattern finish as the premium Transformer Infinity and is a mere 9.9mm thick, making it supremely stylish and eminently portable.

ASUS hasn’t skimped on the screen either, and the TF300 has a brilliant 10.1” IPS display with 1280 x 800 resolution and ultra-wide 178° viewing angle that makes it as well-suited to all kinds of apps as it does to games and movies.

So far, so good, but surely the rest of the specification has been cut back to meet a more affordable price point, right?

Wrong.

Believe it or not, ASUS has still equipped the TF300 with a quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor and 1GB RAM to deliver incredible performance with Android ICS, making this an excellent all-round tablet for all kinds of users.

Battery life of up to 10 hours made the TF300T a capable mobile companion, too. But don’t forget that this is an ASUS Transformer tablet and with the TF300 slotted into the optional keyboard dock with its own built-in battery, it can last for up to 15 hours between recharges.

Frankly, we don’t really know how ASUS has managed it, but the Transformer Pad 300 manages to possess all the features found in high-end Android tablets except one — the price.

Check out the video below for a sneak peek at the Transformer Pad 300.
